Opoku Ware vs Prempeh College – Who is the best?
The quest for bragging right never ends, students and alumni are often eager to brag about their school and compare it to others, especially when both schools are in the same region.
In the Ashanti region, “AKATAKYIE” and “AMANFOƆ” are considered the fiercest rivals. OWASS and PREMPEH are among the best elite schools in the country.
Both schools are all-boys, so you can imagine the debate that ensues when these two schools argue about who is the best.
In this article, SHSvibes.com makes some analysis of these two schools based on some metrics such as WASSCE performance, NSMQ trophies, etc.
Brief History of Opoku Ware
Opoku Ware School is the first Catholic Boys Secondary School to be established in the Ashanti Region with a mission to deliver quality and holistic education based on academic excellence and sound moral principles in all areas of study.
The uniqueness of Opoku Ware School however, lies in the fact that it is the only Catholic School in Ghana whose name does not connote a Catholic or Christian identity. The need for Catholic Education in the Ashanti Region as requested by the Catholic laity in Kumasi led to the establishment of Opoku Ware School on 28th February, 1952.
