Final year student of Methodist Girls SHS dies

A final-year student of Methodist Girls Senior High School in Mamfe-Akuapem in the Eastern Region has lost her life.

Cindy Aku Sika Addo, who was a General Arts student, was admitted at the Tetteh Quarshie Hospital at Mampong on Thursday, July 16 for an ailment later diagnosed as acute malaria.

According to the Ghana Education Service (GES), her parents were immediately informed and they even went to the hospital to see her.

She was later referred to the Koforidua Regional Hospital, where she passed on.

GES has assured the family of support in giving their late relative a befitting burial.

“Management of GES extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved family and stands with them at this difficult time,” a press release issued by Head of Public Relations Unit Cassandra Twum Ampofo on Sunday said.

Schools were reopened for final-year and second-year Gold Track senior high school (SHS) students on Monday, June 22.

Since then quite a number have lost their lives for various ailments while some have been infected with Covid-19.
