Ashanti Region Top 12 WASSCE 2020 Ranking
It was recently revealed, on 2nd June 2021 by the Minister of Education at an award presentation in the Ashanti Region that 12 Senior High Schools in the region secured high marks cumulatively in all eight subjects in WASSCE 2020.
Though the full list of WASSCE 2020 is not out yet (we will update you when it is finally released) these 12 schools were made public by the Minister.

Tepa Senior High School
Tepa SHS has an encouraging motto in the Twi language as "Obi nnima obo kyere" which translates into English as "if one does not know, one can be taught". The School was established in the year 1965 in the Ahafo-Ano North of the Ashanti Region.
What is now a senior high school started as a teacher training college and was effectively converted into a secondary school in 1971. The school is located along the Bechem junction and the Goaso main road.

The school has 6o classroom units, a library, 3 science laboratories, and a computer lab which serves a population of about 4,296 students (comprising first year to third year SHS students).
St. Louis Senior High School, Kumasi
St. Louis SHS is a public/ mission partnership of the Catholic Church and is one of the highly acclaimed and performing girls' senior high schools in Ghana.
The school was established in the year 1952 and is located in the Kumasi Metropolitan district, also of the Ashanti Region, and also near to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
The school has one of the most serene and eco-friendly atmospheres as it is nestled within a wide range of trees, long stretches of well-trimmed lawns, and very conspicuous flora prettification.
It is obviously endowed with an environment to entice some of the best performing BECE candidates to select the school as the 1st senior high school choice.

Some facilities the school currently has include classroom units, 2 Science labs, 2 Computer labs, a Library, Dining Hall, Art Studio, and many more.
Toase Senior High School
As one of the 12 best senior high schools for the year 2020, Toase Senior High was established in 1970 in the Toase township. The school is located along the Abuakwa-Bibiani main road and just 100 meters away from Nkawie Government Hospital.
Having enough school facilities is one of the main challenges of the ever-growing population of senior high schools across the country. However, Toase SHS manages 68 classroom units, a science laboratory, a computer, and 7 dormitories.
The school also commands a high population of about 5,443 as of 2020 as contained in the annual digest for the 2019/2020 academic year.
Kumasi Senior High School
They are known as the “Mmerantee” which means gentlemen in English. The school was formerly known as the Kwame Nkrumah Secondary School situated at Asuoyeboah. It was, however, relocated to Gyinyase under the new name Kumasi High School.
The “kumerican” school was established in the year 1964 seven years after the independence of Ghana.
The school can boast of facilities such as 49 classroom units, a whooping six science laboratories, a library, and two computer labs, severing a population of about 3,869 students.
Ghana Muslim Mission Senior High School
As one of the best senior high schools in the Ashanti region after the 2020 WASSCE, Ghana Muslim Mission SHS was established on 20th October 2008 and is a government-assisted school.
The school is situated within the district of Sekyere Central and runs both boarding and day systems to serve both the youth of Beposo and its environs.
In its few years of existence, Ghana Muslim Mission SHS has excelled not only in academics but also in other extra-curriculum endeavours including taking 1st position at the Sekyere Central SHS debate competition in 2018, 1st in the Ashanti Regional SHS Volleyball competition in 2017, etc.
The school serve a total population of about 1,800 students as of 2020 with facilities including boys’ and girls’ dormitories, classroom blocks, Mosque, Volley Ball, and others.
Prempeh College
“Suban ne nimdee” to with character and insight or knowledge is the motto of one of the best senior high schools in Ghana and not just the Ashanti region. Prempeh College over the years has carved and very prestigious name in secondary education in the country.
The school was established in the year 1949 by the late Otumfo Sir Osei Agyemang Prempeh II the then Asantehene. The establishment according to the record was done in collaboration with the Presbyterian and Methodist churches under the first headmaster, Rev. S.N. Pearson.
The school is located near the Sofoline interchange, and has the vision of making Prempeh College, also known as the Amanfo, the preferred educational center which by large is a vision that has been achieved.,
Some of the school’s achievements include National Champions in the Robofest qualifiers competition in 2020, Champions regional Francophone Week 20199, Supper Zonal winners inter-school Athletics competition, and more.
Prempeh College runs four SHS courses including General Science, General Arts, Visual Arts, and Business, serving a population of about 4,347.
Wesley Girls Senior High, Kumasi
The Kumasi WEY GEY HEY has its genesis, according to history, date back to 1960 when some concerned old Methodist school boys and girls at the Wesley Methodist Church, now the Wesley cathedral at Adum, felt the need to establish a secondary school to help parents who could not afford the cost of boarding secondary education for their children then.
The idea for the school finally materialized in 1979 when the then superintendent minister, Rev. De Graft Johnson took the bold decision to establish the school.
The Kumasi Wesley Girls Senior High commands a total of 51 classrooms units as of 2020 with 3 science labs, a library, and a computer laboratory. The school has a total population of about 3,087 students.
