NSMQ 2018 Semi-finals.
So, this is it! A contest that will go down in memory lane as one of the healthy rivalrous, exciting, most unpredictable contests of the National Science and Maths Quiz 2018.
The NSMQ 2018 has eventually reached the semi-finals with the first out of three fixtures happening between three giants: Mfantsipim School, Adisadel College and Ghana National College, on Monday 2nd July 2018.
There are many interesting stuffs about this fixture, and one of such is all three schools come from Cape Coast in the central region of Ghana. These are three rivals from the same back yard.
What an interesting and most definitely a hard-nut to crack contest it will be!
In the current ongoing contest, both schools have proved at various stages of the contest that they are strong forces to reckon with.
Mfanstipim school in the quarter finals stage, knocked out NSMQ five-time champions PRESEC Legon with 50 pts to get to the semi-finals. And prior to that they displaced Nandom SHS and Bolgatanga Girls’ SHS with a whopping 60 pts at the one-eight stage.
Adisadel College, on the other hand, also knocked out one of NSMQ favourites, Osei Tutu SHS with 47 pts at the one-eight stage. And displaced St. Louis and Sandema SHTS with 58 pts to the semi-finals.
Also, Ghana National College, just as expected, staged a strong campaign winning their one-eight contest with 57pts against Swedru SHS and St. Mary’s Sem SHS, Lolobi. At the quarter finals, they knocked out Aburi Girls’ SHS and University Practice with 45 pts securing a slot in the semi-finals.
And there is one thing that is rest assured, some hearts will be broken and tears will flow while victors will be uncontrollably celebrating.
Brief History of Their Participation
Mfantsipim school has contested severally in the contest and has reached these feet in many cases. They are two-time champions in the NSMQ in the years: 1999 and 2014.
In 2016, Mfantsipim reached the finals but in a very exciting contest Adisadel College snatched the 2016 title from them. Making this the first time the Santaclausians won the contest despite their many attempts to the trophy.
On, the other hand is another title less giant, Ghana National College. They are very well-known veterans in the contest with many attempts at winning the bragging rights, making it to various stages of the contest.
