About

The idea for the establishment of the first secondary school in the then Techiman District was wholly as a result of community advocacy, and the initiative of the Techiman Traditional Council during the reign of Nana Akumfi Ameyaw III, who released about 200 acres of land for the purpose. Consequently on the 6th of March 1963, the foundational stone for the establishment of Techiman Senior High School was laid by Hon. A. J. Dowuona Hammond, the then Minister of Education in the first Republic of Ghana under Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. On the 1st of November, 1963, the school was officially opened with seventy one (71) students. The Motto of the school is “NIHIL NISSI OPTIMUM” (in Latin, meaning NOTHING BUT THE BEST).
