There are about 151 SHS in the Ashanti region and are various factors that must be considered to determine which senior high school is the best as there are about 1008 SHS in Ghana. Academic performance at WASSCE, school’s achievement, infrastructure, and facilities are among some of such important factors.

Ghana Education Service (G.E.S) releases a list that categorizes senior high schools each year in which Category A schools are by large considered the best senior high schools. So, our ranking of the top senior high schools in the Ashanti region is based on this data.

This makes the ranking more authentic than any other source. In the future we looking to providing rankings based on the WASSCE performance data.

In this article, we identify Top 6 SHS in the Ashanti region as they make up the category A schools in this region.

All six schools are in the Kumasi metro and have all participated in the National Science and maths quiz at least once. They all offer General Science, General Arts, Visual arts, and Business.

Among the six, Kumasi Senior High, T.I Ahamdiyya Senior High – Kumasi, and Yaa Asantewaa Girls offer Agriculture science.

Also, T.I Ahamdiyya Senior High – Kumasi, Yaa Asantewaa Girls, and St. Louis Senior High offer home economics. While none of the six offers technical courses.

Each year GES updates the list and some schools get to move into category A, we will update this once this data become available.
