26 years ago, many of us only got to know of the contest and watch a recorded version on GTV months after the live contest had ended.

But today with the internet, social media and proliferation of smartphones we enjoy the show live and give live feedback. This obviously contributes to the international recognition and mileage the contest continues to get.
