Senior high schools in Ghana are categorized into various groups known as categories A, B, C, D, E, F, and G by the Education authorities (GES). Each year, where needed the GES released what is known as the schools' register which captures this information, especially help for BECE students preparing to go senior high school.

Categories A, B, C, and D are lists of public or government senior high schools. It is also important to note the Category D schools, at least since 2019 comprise all senior high schools with only the DAY STUDENT option. Category E schools are government or public technical and vocational second cycle institutions, whereas Category F is a list of all Private Senior High Schools in Ghana.
