School Feeding Programme feeds 2.7m pupils on daily basis – Gender Minister

The School Feeding Programme under the auspices of the Ministry of Gender, Children & Social Protection on a daily basis feeds about 2.7 million pupils in Public Primary Schools across the country, Hon. Cynthia Mamle Morrison has disclosed.

The Gender Minister revealed this at a week-long Innovative Nutrition Training and Sensitization programme for caterers and head cooks under the GSFP in the Agona West Municipality.

She further disclosed that the Government of Ghana (GoG) is determined to undertake further expansion to feed more primary school pupils across the country as part of efforts to support the parents.

Hon. Cynthia Morrison added that there are other complementary projects on the School Feeding Programme such as the National Cocoa Drinks Projects currently being considered for Ghana Education Service (GES) Pupils.

The Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) is an initiative of the comprehensive Africa Agricultural Development Programme (CAADP) Pillar 3 which seeks to enhance food security and reduce hunger in line with the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (MDGs) on hunger, poverty and malnutrition.
